Oktoberfest started in Bavaria, Germany, nearly two centuries ago and has become an international phenomenon over the years and is now the world’s largest fair. It’s celebrated every year around the end of September through October, for a period of just over two weeks. Although it is generally identified with beer drinking, the making and selling of massive amounts of traditional German food such as sauerkraut, hendl and ox tail takes place as well. It has gone from being mostly focused on drinking celebrations, to being altered to cater for older people and families as well, with a more relaxed and peaceful atmosphere during the daytime.
